1. I believe that the political process in the United States has spawned extraordinary levels of corruption, injustice, propaganda, abuse, cynicism, hypocrisy, and murder. My time has come to speak out.
2. By helping to document the assault by the political and media powers-that-be on the dignity and intelligence of the American people I hope to draw attention to the expanding tragedy of American politics.
3. In spite of the looming failure of democracy and ongoing erosion of civil liberties in this country, the free people of the world are on the verge of an economic, scientific and cultural golden age. The corporate money politicians represent the accomplishments of past generations. I speak for the hopes and needs of future generations.
4. We are also on the brink of a variety of environmental and humanitarian disasters, and are facing ever more dangerous threats from terrorism and the spread of weapons of mass destruction. Establishment politicians are not up to the challenges posed by these threats, for reasons having to do with the corrupting influence of corporate campaign financing.
5. While the American people are still fundamentally free and extraordinarily wealthy, we have underestimated the effects of the various forms of propaganda to which we are almost continually exposed. The success of certain technologies of political control poses an immediate threat to freedom everywhere.
6. Unless voter apathy is overcome, democracy will not survive in America. The time for action is now. Otherwise, liberty will soon be only for those who will reach out and have it at any cost, rather than freely available to masses of people too well entertained to guard it.
7. Medical miracles await those who have access to 21st century technologies. Those who do not demand their rights will likely have none.
8. The America I believed in was founded on the principles of tolerance for the differences among individuals, and intolerance of tyranny by government. In my opinion, both of these principles have recently been suffering from lack of leadership in the population.
