The South Korean government Friday [13th July] chose Army Deputy Chief of Staff O Cha-pok to be Four-Star General Kim Hong-han's successor as Commander of Unit 6619, the government announced. Kim died in a helicopter crash Thursday. The government also appointed Three-Star General Choe Se-chang to succeed O as Army Deputy Chief of Staff. Born in the third largest city of Taegu in 1934, the newly-appointed Deputy Chief of Staff graduated from the Korean Military Academy in 1957 before serving as head of a battalion, regiment, division and corps.
